Who you will be writing to
Confucius was born about 2,500 years ago in the state of Lu, in what is now eastern China. He held minor offices, became a teacher instead, and spent years traveling from court to court hoping some ruler would take his counsel seriously. Few did, and his students preserved his sayings anyway.
He believed large things rest on small ones: how a family eats together, how a promise is kept, how a person keeps learning at any age. His letters attend to exactly those small, load-bearing things.
What the letters hold
- Family, and the rituals that hold it together
- Learning as a lifelong practice
- Small daily acts that shape character
- Teachers, students, and gratitude
- Music, and the ordering of a good day

Is each letter written by a person or by AI? A bit of both, and we're glad to be clear about it. Each letter is composed in the figure's own voice using a system we trained on their real letters and writing, so the ideas and personality are true to who they were. Then a real person reviews and refines every letter before it goes out. The result is original and personal, never pulled off a shelf.
